RMU launches the FW 26/27 Ski Collection

BRECKENRIDGE, Colorado. — September 3, 2026— After a summer that saw RMU make waves with the launch of its first mountain bike, the NIGHTTRAIN, the employee-owned mountain culture company is returning to its roots with the release of its 2026/27 ski collection.

“Yes, we make mountain bikes now. No, we haven’t forgotten how to make skis,” joked Robby Burleson, RMU Marketing Director. “Skiing is where RMU started, and it’s still at the heart of everything we do.”

Leading the new collection is the return of one of the most iconic skis in RMU history: the Apostle 105, completely reimagined from the ground up for modern all-mountain freeriding.

The Apostle lineage dates back to 2011, when an early version earned “Best in Show” at ISPO. Since then, the Apostle has become one of RMU’s most enduring platforms, built around the idea that one ski should be capable of handling nearly everything the mountain throws at it. For 2026/27, RMU took that philosophy and rebuilt the 105 around a modern, balanced shape while retaining the lightweight construction, quick maneuverability and intuitive feel that defined the original.

The result is a 105 mm platform designed to move seamlessly from carving corduroy and navigating tight trees to hunting fresh snow and skiing technical freeride terrain.

"For this newest generation of the Apostle, we aimed to differentiate it from the rest of the line while providing a more directional, freeride feel. By shifting the mounting position 2 cm further back than the previous generation, we have given the Apostle 105 a more directional shape, a more robust tail, and a slightly shorter radius underfoot. These adjustments, paired with a larger radius toward the tip and tail, allow the ski to perform better on hardpack while improving float in powder and stability at high speeds. Ultimately, these changes result in a more intuitive ski that excels in a wider variety of conditions, no matter where you ride," said Product Manager Luke "Ocho" Allen.

Early testing suggests the redesign has delivered. Newschoolers praised the new Apostle 105, saying simply, “The new ones absolutely rip,” while highlighting its increased stability, groomer performance and versatility as a true one-ski-quiver option.

One Shape. Three Personalities.

For 2026/27, RMU is taking the Apostle 105 beyond a single ski and offering the new platform in three distinct constructions, allowing skiers to choose the ride characteristics that best match how and where they ski.

The Apostle 105 is the foundation of the collection. Built around a poplar wood core and pre-preg fiberglass layup, it combines low weight, torsional stiffness and a balanced flex with a 105 mm waist and low-rise rocker in the tip and tail. Available in four lengths from 168 cm to 192 cm, it is designed as the everyday all-mountain freeride option.

The new Apostle 105 Ti takes the same shape and adds Titanal above and below the wood core, increasing torsional stiffness, damping, edge hold and stability when speeds increase and conditions get rough. It's the Apostle for skiers who want to push harder, charge faster and demand more support from the ski.

For skiers looking toward the backcountry, the new Apostle 105 Carbon takes the redesigned platform in the opposite direction. A pre-preg carbon-fiber and fiberglass layup paired with a poplar and paulownia core reduces weight while maintaining the agility, energy and 105 mm platform of the new shape. An integrated skin clip in the tail rounds out its touring-focused construction.

Together, the three constructions give skiers a common Apostle 105 platform with distinctly different personalities: balanced, powerful or lightweight.

The Apostle Family Goes Bigger

Returning for 2026/27 is the Apostle 114, RMU’s big-mountain freeride platform developed with athlete Alex Armstrong.

Built for advanced and expert skiers, the Apostle 114 combines a 114 mm waist with an extended sidecut designed to create a longer effective edge and increased stability at speed, while retaining the maneuverability needed for technical terrain and deep snow. For this season, RMU updated the ski's core and flex pattern to create a more balanced feel.

As Armstrong puts it:

“The Apostle 114 is my go to ski for anything from bottomless pow to pillow stacks, to big mountain lines.”

Newschoolers echoed that versatility in its testing of the Apostle 114, highlighting the ski's maneuverability and approachable feel despite its big-mountain dimensions.

From Freeride to Freestyle

The 2026/27 collection extends well beyond the Apostle family.

The Professor Series continues to represent the freestyle side of RMU, with the Professor 101, Professor 111 and Professor 121 creating a progression from all mountain twin to full blown freestyle powder ski.

At 101 mm underfoot, the Professor 101 is designed as a versatile do everything twin capable of frontside cruising, park laps and unexpected powder days. The wider Professor 111 pushes further into big mountain terrain while maintaining the playful character needed for jumps and freestyle skiing.

At the top end, the Professor 121, developed with input from RMU athletes including Benny Smith and Mark Abma, is built to jump, jib and slash its way through deep snow and big terrain.

The broader collection also includes the Valhalla 97 and 107, Apostle 96 and 96 Ti, Zephyr 88, Rippah 98 and the surf inspired Butterknife 126, giving RMU one of its most diverse ski collections to date.

Built Differently

While shapes and constructions continue to evolve, RMU's approach to building skis remains rooted in longevity and responsible manufacturing.

RMU skis are handmade in Sweden at Åre Skidfabrik using 100% renewable and fossil-free energy. Current ski production also incorporates 26% recycled steel edges and 50% bio-based topsheets, with skis tuned using biodegradable wax. RMU backs its skis with a lifetime warranty.

RMU began in 2007 as a group of friends experimenting with ski construction. Today, the company employs more than 100 people, has implemented an employee dividend program and continues to maintain a 50+ days on snow policy as a job requirement for its employees.

The products may have expanded from skis into packs, mountain bikes and year round mountain equipment, but the mission remains the same:

Positively impact mountain culture and the communities that make it possible.
